Beer Girl, Sports Bar

by Reid Mitchell

In this basement bar
       the Carlsberg beer girl stands
           as lonely as if still

a seven year old invited
       to a stranger's birthday party
           where no happy friends

say "boo!" to her
In her poorly made up eyes
           the same look of panic
