Po Wah Lam was born in Liverpool on 15 September 1967 and grew up in the New Territories in Hong Kong. After secondary education he went to design college in High Wycombe in the UK and was later awarded the David Wong Writing Fellowship at the University of East Anglia. He read more comics than books when he was growing up so his favourite books are still ones with pictures because pictures and words to his mind go together like sustainable apple pie and custard, especially inside a backpack when you are walking down abandoned railways.
