闇龗 Kuraokami

by Carl Walsh

Sea-sleeping serpent wakes in anger
to the ambivalence of human hearts

born in vermillion spill of sun-god blood
she summons cloud-hoarded drops

to fling them at the earth where Izanagi
& Izanami wringing frenzied creation

from the floating bridge of heaven
scattered islands in their shadows.
