Shivani Sivagurunathan is a Malaysian writer who lectures at University Putra Malaysia. Her creative work has been published in numerous international magazines and journals. Her poetry chapbook, Chiaroscuro, published by Bedouin Books, came out in August 2010. Her short story "Catching Iguanas" is expected in the fourth anniversary issue of Cha (November 2011). Both "The Bat Whisperer" and "Catching Iguanas" are from her short story collection, Wildlife on Coal Island, which will be published later this year.
