favourite shopping bag
and tries to buy an XL T-shirt
His new hat listens to
several Christmas carols
His trendy watch follows
the curve of time
We’ve seen the stylish gifts
We’ve heard the footsteps of
festival. Build a chit-chat castle for
our hippo, our harbour
A castle without water taps
A day without waterfall
What will our keys talk about
this upcoming Boxing Day?
Great monologues of Mr. Hippo—
fruitful, XL at least.
Note:
This poem was inspired by Chapter 2 of Xi Xi’s novel My City 我城.
